Timena is a registered Social Worker who has been working in the mental health field for over five years in a variety of different settings. She has a passion for working with people who are struggling with intense emotions and difficulties regulating their emotions.
As a single parent of two teenage daughters, Timena understands that life can be overwhelming sometimes; the demands of kids, work, bills, and relationships eventually catches up with all of us. Using the principles of Mindfulness, and Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioural Therapies, Timena supports people in learning new effective and healthy coping skills to replace the old ineffective, and often destructive coping strategies. Timena believes that all people have the capacity for change, and also understands that change can be difficult.
Timena’s approach to therapy is relaxed, gentle, and incorporates humor and honesty. Timena also believes that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist, and she strives to create a safe, respectful, and effective therapeutic relationship with her clients.
